The Sculpture Collection
From bronze busts to marble polar bears, the University’s Sculpture Collection is rich and varied. Whether you are strolling through the main site, exploring Riddel Hall, or visiting the Wellcome-Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine, you will find yourself surrounded by a dynamic array of sculptures, each telling its own unique story.
The Sculpture Collection boasts an eclectic mix, spanning centuries and styles. Historic works by the likes of Thomas Brock, F.E. McWilliam, Sophia Rosamond Praeger, and Kathleen Scott stand proudly alongside contemporary creations by Ben Craig, Marc Didou, and Kevin Killen. Many of the University’s sculptures also pay homage to some of history’s most influential figures. Discover tributes to Irish literary giants Seamus Heaney and James Joyce, American statesman Senator George J. Mitchell, and astronomer, physicist, and engineer Galileo Galilei.
As you explore the campus, you will encounter abstract forms that challenge your perception, minimalist works that emphasise simplicity, and figurative sculptures that capture the human experience. From traditional carving and casting techniques to cutting-edge 3D printing technology, our Collection is a testament to the endless possibilities of sculpture.
At Queen’s, sculpture is not just something to look at — it is something to engage with, to be inspired by, and to spark curiosity. Sculpture enriches our community every day, inviting us all to pause, reflect, and appreciate the art that surrounds us.
